HOMESCHOOL FALL SERIES: INTRO TO CLAY

Service Description

This self-pay homeschool intro to art series is designed for students ages 5 to 12 years old. Students will learn a variety of foundational clay hand building skills and techniques over this 6 class series that meets every other week on Thursdays from 1p-3p beginning in early October and running through mid-December. Led by Ms. Melody and Mr. Tim from Melody B Pottery, students will complete a variety of clay art projects that introduce them to working with and shaping their clay, scoring, coiling, incorporating texture, and more. Students will complete a clay project each class. Each project requires 2 weeks of drying time before it will be fired in the kiln. Once pieces are ready to glaze (approximately 2.5 weeks after their completion), students can return to the studio's Glaze Room anytime during our open hours to glaze their pieces. The curriculum is as follows: Week 1 (10/2): Monster pinch pots Week 2 (10/16): Coiled vases Week 3 (10/30): Pumpkins Week 4 (11/13): Coiled hearts Week 5 (12/4): Ornaments Week 6 (12/18): Snowmen Series registration fee includes 6 classes, 6 additional glaze room visits to glaze kiln-fired pieces, all clay and glaze materials, tools, bisque and glaze kiln firings for completed pottery and instruction. NOTE: *This series is for students 5 to 12 years old. Please email alexa@whimsyoxford.com for additional homeschool options for children outside of this age range. **This series requires a minimum of 4 students. If there are less than 4 students registered for the course, the series will be canceled and your registration fee will be refunded.
