HOMESCHOOL FALL SERIES: INTRO TO ART

Service Description

This self-pay homeschool intro to art series is designed for students ages 5 to 9 years old. Students will be introduced to a wide range of artistic mediums over this 6 class series (with 1 additional makeup class) that meets every other week on Wednesdays from 10a - 12p beginning in late September and running through mid-December. Led by College for Creative Studies graduate Ms. Natalie, Students will complete a variety of art projects using acrylic paints and markers, clay, oil pastels, colored pencils, watercolors, glaze, and more. Students will learn about and develop skills related to: - Basic color theory - Use of color, texture and shapes with different mediums - Fine motor: cutting, gluing, drawing, clay work, threading - Artistic observation The curriculum is as follows: Week 1 (9/24): Cut paper fruit art; fruit "shrinky dink" magnets with acrylic paint markers (part 1) Week 2 (10/8): Clay pinch pots & coil pots Week 3 (10/22): Fruit "shrinky dink" magnets (part 2); Oil pastel drawing and transfer line art Week 4 (11/5): String puppets; Life size self portrait (part 1) Week 5 (11/19): Life size self portrait (part 2); Watercolor landscapes Week 6 (12/3): Clay project glazing; Life size self portrait (part 3) Week 7 (12/17): Makeup session for a missed class; bonus special pottery painting activity for students who completed all 6 classes in the course Series registration fee includes 6 (plus 1 makeup) classes, all materials, tools, and kiln firings for completed pottery and instruction. NOTE: *This series is for students 5 to 9 years old. If there are less than 4 students registered for the course, the series will be canceled and your registration fee will be refunded.
